Prohibits businesses advising, assisting or consulting on veterans' benefits matters for a fee from processing veterans' personal information in foreign data centers.

An act concerning data centers; relating to the siting and development of large load data centers; prohibiting the installation, placement, construction or operation of any new large load data center in any county that has had a drought emergency declared for such county pursuant to the Kansas Emergency Management Act within the preceding three years. (SB 531, KS)
Prohibits development or operation of new (i.e. no approvals given yet) large load data centers in counties that have had a drought emergency declared within the preceding three years.

AN ACT concerning data centers; relating to the sales tax exemption for the construction or remodeling of a qualified data center; requiring any such data center to be located on land that was zoned and classified for industrial or manufacturing uses on July 1, 2025, if such land was subject to zoning regulations by a local zoning authority on or before such date; amending K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 74-50,331 and repealing the existing section. (SB 526, KS)
Limits sales tax exemption for data centers data centers to those zoned for industrial or manufacturing uses, or not zoned on July 1, 2025.
