Sierra Club Wisconsin outlines three proposed gas plants tied to data center growth: a 300-megawatt plant in Darien, a 1,100-megawatt plant in Paris facing fast-tracked federal approval and a 1,200-megawatt Invenergy plant in Calumet County. Combined with plants already under construction, these projects would add nearly 4 gigawatts of capacity, enough to power more homes than exist in Wisconsin, while the Darien and Paris plants alone would draw up to 390,000 gallons of water a day.
