Data Centers and Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure

This is a Climate Justice Alliance resource cataloging the environmental, economic and cultural costs of AI data center expansion, paired with a two-page fact sheet built for use with local officials and planning boards. It traces water and land strain, secrecy from non-disclosure agreements, undermined Tribal consultation and utility rate hikes tied to the buildout, and features two Muscogee Nation citizens — recently profiled on the cover of TIME — fighting a proposed data center on tribal land. The Alliance backs the authority of local, county, state and Tribal governments to enact their own moratoriums on new data center development.
