Entergy Louisiana has broken ground on the Franklin Farms Power Station in Richland Parish, a pair of natural gas plants generating 1,500 megawatts to power Meta's $27 billion data center — the world's largest. The project received expedited approval from the Louisiana Public Service Commission, bypassing the typical multi-year planning process. With a third plant planned at the Waterford nuclear site, total new gas generation will reach 2,200 megawatts — more than twice New Orleans' capacity — raising concerns about grid impacts, emissions, and community disruption in the rural farming community.
