FracTracker’s U.S. Data Centers Tracker (Locations & Insight Map)
Explore an interactive, free-access mapping tool documenting the rapid build-out of AI and data center infrastructure across the United States. The map provides an in-progress tally of existing, proposed, and defeated data centers in the United States. The dashboard format takes the data center dataset and pairs it with information like demographics and environmental justice area designations, tribal land, chronic disease rates, the surrounding energy landscape like power plants and balancing authorities, and environmental concerns like air quality and water resources. The tracker also features information relevant to advocacy such as petitions, community group webpages, site fight leaders, and examples of community victories to make it easier than ever for residents to get plugged in to local resistance.
Information is sourced from media announcements, partner datasets, public records, permit documents, parcel data, and Freedom of Information Act/Right to Know request responses. The main focus of the map is proposals (i.e. locations relevant for advocacy), and existing data centers are slowly being added. The information presented here is a constant collaborative work in progress. Due to the rapidly-evolving speed at which new data centers are being proposed, the FracTracker team is crowd-sourcing new listings, which are reviewed and validated carefully. Your input can ensure that FracTracker’s U.S. Data Centers Tracker reflects what’s actually happening in your community and helps others across the country learn from your experiences and successes.
