DESCRIPTION:Presentation Description:                                                                                                     While the harmful environmental impacts of data centers are becoming more apparent\, understanding the connection between AI and data centers is key to understanding why hyperscale data centers are being built with such damaging impacts on people and the planet. \nThis interactive workshop will share information on the tech industry’s agenda in building hyperscale data centers\, including how the rise of AI is directly connected to the rapid expansion of data centers and how communities across the country are fighting back. \nStay for a Meet & Greet!Following the workshop\, stick around from 1:00–1:30 PM ET (10:00–10:30 AM PT) for an informal opportunity to meet the MediaJustice staff\, ask questions\, and learn more about their work. \nAbout the Speaker:                                                                                                             Christine Peng is the Political Education Specialist at MediaJustice and brings over twenty years of experience working with community groups\, designing media programs\, and creating curricula focused on immigration\, healing and trauma\, restorative justice\, housing justice\, and indigenous sovereignty.
